The London Irish Rifle Re-enactment unit was formed in 2004.It portrays the London Irish Rifles during the Second World War. At present we have twelve members fully kitted out. We try to show what a standard infantry unit looked like in the field .At present we have in our ranks the following,

1 no lance corporal

7 no privates
We hope to increase this number as new and suitable members join. The year 2005 was our first to attend major events .We attended two events at Grey Point Fort in Co, Down and one also at Duncannon Fort in Co, Wexford. A number of civic events were also attended.
We have now acquired our unit transport which includes a 1943 Willy’s Jeep., a1942 Bedford MW Truck and a 1940 BSA Motorcycle, all in running order. We also have 40mm boffers Anti Aircraft Gun.
We have collected ww2 tents and equipment. We are able to set up a command post and a first aid post with all their equipment. 2006 saw us re-enact ww1 London Irish Rifles also. We travelled to England to partake in a number of Events over there.
Along with the American 101 Airbourn unit we make up the Ww2 Allied Re-enactment Group [War Group] We are members of the Munster Military Vehicle and Re-enactment Group also We have taken part in a number of TV documentaries and films ,Irelands Nazis and the Patriot Game.
